Landmark Resort – Myrtle Beach, S.C.

As you know we brought in the new year at the beach. Anytime we travel, we like to try out different locations and we definitely picked a good one this time. As you see from the title, we stayed at the Landmark Resort. Our room was very affordable with plenty of additional add on’s to enhance your experience. They have everything to where if you wanted, you wouldn’t ever need to leave your hotel once you arrive. Their free parking garage is located on the opposite side of the street as the hotel but no worries, they have a covered cross walk so crossing the street is a breeze. Not to mention how convenient it would be if you ran into a rainstorm.

Within the hotel there are a ton of banquet rooms if you were looking for a meeting place, a restaurant (which serves a delicious breakfast buffet), a lounge, exercise room, laundry room, arcade room, gift shop, and a Starbucks! During the summer months they also have a poolside snack bar, food bar, frozen yogurt, and sweet shop. Oh! and I can’t forget the seasonal activities for kids along with the fire & hula show, Salty the shark appearances, and 9 hole miniature golf free for resort guests. During both the summer and winter there are a ton of pool options from the H2OASIS water park, lazy rivers, pools, and jacuzzi(s). The lazy river was so much fun and completely enclosed but during the summer it floats inside and outside. The indoor pools and outdoor pools were heated and so large you had plenty of room to splash around.

The room? Oh, the room. I absolutely loved our room. When you walked in it was like a mini hallway with the closet & safe area to your right, bathroom straight ahead. You turn right and the kitchen was on your left, table across from the kitchen, your bed, dresser, couch, table, and armoires with the television. We stayed oceanfront and our balcony had tons of space on it. also, the kitchen area had a bar type counter with 3 bar stools. LOVED this area and spent the majority of my time journaling in my Bible on that counter.

All in all, we’d definitely stay there again (if we decided to not be so adventurous in picking a new place each time) and highly recommend it! The staff was polite and professional. Everything was clean and you felt like you were living in luxury. If you’ve stayed there or plan to stay there, I can’t wait to hear about your experience. I hope it is/was as great as ours.

We give Landmark Resort a 5 out of 5 stars!

Poof, be gone!

Sure would be nice if it were that easy. My daughter and I are battling some sort of cold/allergy/sinus mess this week. We have a competition coming up this weekend and a couple of the cheerleaders are also sick. One has the flu, the other has a stomach bug. If you’re the praying kind, please keep us all in your prayers for health and safety this weekend. Hope you’re staying well, so much going around!

Siesta Scripture Memory Team – Verse 2

You are altogether beautiful, my love, there is no flaw in you.

Song of Solomon 4:7

If you’ve read previous posts of mine this year, you know I’m participating in a Bible verse memorization journey with fellow believers. I’m doing this through Living Proof Ministries and you pick a new verse on the 1st and 15th of every month to memorize. The goal is by the end of the year, you will have memorized 24 Bible verses. If you want to join in this journey, head on over to Living Proof Ministries Blog.

My verse of choice for week 2 is Song of Solomon 4:7. This verse to me is a reminder that I was created in God’s image and although I see myself as imperfect and at times a failure, His love is unconditional. In His image, I am imperfectly perfect. There is a sense of acceptance that has to be recognized when understanding your true beauty. This is something that I personally struggle with, haven’t ever been one with a huge positive self image. If I strive to live the way God intends for me to live, I am living a beautiful life.

Some say Song of Song’s was written for Solomon while others say it was written by Solomon. I personally interpret it as the relationship of God and His Church. How do you interpret this particular book of the Bible and verse? I’m interested to hear your thoughts!

To go along with my SSMT verse 2, I’ve made another entry in my journaling Bible. I am really excited about this journey I have embarked on this year already and look forward to how it’s going to change my relationship with the Lord for the better.

Bachelor Nation!

The time has finally come that we all (or at least some of us) have been waiting for.. the premier of Chris Soules’ Bachelor season. It’s sure to be a great one. The premier came on last night but I worked late and didn’t get to watch it live. However, I am super thankful for DVR and the ability to skip through the commercials and get to the good stuff. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Chris, I was a huge fan of his last Bachelorette season. He was in the final three and got sent home after he allowed himself to be vulnerable and confessed his love to Andi. Although I was a fan of his and wanted her to choose him, I’m glad she didn’t because now we all get to gush over him just a little bit longer as he takes a journey to yet again, find love. I must also add, Andi and Josh are totally adorable. Yes, this will be a long, opinionated, and girly post.. if that’s not your thing, I’d exit it now. (Can’t say I didn’t warn ya).

I really enjoyed hearing from the recent couples and to see them still so happy! I thought it was classy of Nikki to not throw Juan Pablo under the bus when so much of the nation feels she should. She responded with confidence in my opinion and tried her best to be respectful to him. That takes a lot after what she went through, in front of an entire nation at that. The only issue I had with her was the constant “like” but maybe it was just nerves.

So let’s get this started, I’m going to post my first impressions on all of the bachelorette ladies as I’m watching.

The women (or first 15):
Amanda – Lives at home with her mom, doesn’t cook, and doesn’t like to clean? Hmmmm. Awkward limo exit. Not a fan. Really big eyes, seems a little too talkative but we’ll see.
Amber – Eh’, pretty gal but he didn’t seem into her.
Ashley I. – She’s gonna get on my nerves I have a feeling, seems kinda loud and obnoxious. We’ll see?
Ashley S. – Didn’t look to happy when she exited the limo. Placed a “lucky penny” in Chris’ shoe. I believe she’s the one who hugged him first when he went inside.
Britt – First lady out of the limo. Seems to have good values regarding relationships & intimacy. The longest hug, ever. Seems giddy, loved the free hug slip of paper. First one on one time, I liked her talk with him even if it seems a tad too early. She just might get the first impression. I like her and it appears he does as well. I totally thought they were going to kiss! One of my favorites!
Jillian – Love that she can tumble! Comes across as intimidating. Got off to a good start it seems.
Kaitlyn – Chris seemed to be attracted at first glance, awkward statement “you can plow my field any day.” Might be a hoot. Chris kinda cut her off from “telling a joke” and took the floor. “Why did the walrus go to a Tupperware party?” “Because he wanted to find a tight seal.” Inappropriate but she’ll be entertaining.
Kelsey – Seems elegant, mature, naturally pretty. Gave me chills explaining that she’s a widow at 28 years old.
Mackenzie – Young mother, seems genuine and mature for her age. Appeared nervous.
Megan – Seemed really nervous, Chris seemed to be attracted to her.
Nikki – No real opinion yet.
Reegan – Awkward limo exit with the cooler and fake heart. Wasn’t impressed by the one arm hug.
Tara – Loved that she showed up in boots, shorts, and plaid. Risky and confident in her style. I think i’ll like her. The other girls, not so much. Then, her second limo exit.. ha!
Trina – Pretty gal, loved her limo exit. They seemed to connect.
Whitney – Looks resemble Jessica Parker to me. Seems confident and comfortable, like the southern accent. He seemed to really like her. Asked him about insemination in pigs, ha! Chris said he’s excited about her.

The other women (last 15 girls to arrive):
Alissa – Cheesy but cute blog. Memorable limo exit with the seatbelt.
Becca – Chris seemed to have a great first impression, really pretty girl and beautiful dress choice. One of my favorites from the limo exits!
Bo – No real impression yet.
Brittany – Scandalous, came across as confident, sexy, and risky. Cute hashtag poster board (#Soulesmates).
Carly – Came out doing karaoke, gutsy and confident. Liked her!
Jade – Chris seemed to really be attracted to her. She seemed cute and sweet.
Jordan – Brought him whiskey for a shot, memorable.
Juelia – No opinion yet.
Kara – Already talking about babies right out of the limo.
Kimberly – Thought her dress was beautiful and simple.
Michelle – Seemed giddy, wasn’t a fan of her dress. Called Chris a “babe”.
Nicole – Came out with a pig snout on, brave and confident. Cute statement “wanted to ham it up for you.”
Samantha – First gal out of the second group of 15. Didn’t like the fact she told her “buh bye” when she walked off. Walked into a tension trap with the first 15 girls who arrived.
Tandra – Arrived on a motorcycle, memorable entrance. Gorgeous dress and gal. Chris seemed impressed.
Tracy – Cute, shared notes from her students. Good first impression.

Okay, I jotted my notes and made some predictions on who I thought Chris had an automatic connection with. I believe the first impression rose will go to Britt. That was before the last 15 girls so it’ll be interesting. I think Kaitlyn is going to be entertaining, Chris called her a firecracker. She’ll be around for entertainment I have a feeling, ha! With 30 girls, the one on one time seemed to be cut shorter than usual. “The claws are out” was a statement made by one of them and I couldn’t agree, they are definitely aggressive already. Not a good impression by Ashley S. when Chris and Brittany were in conversation, we about to be a brawl. Then was all hung up on talking about an onion. I’m not a fan of hers so far (Ashley S.). I think a few of the gals definitely enjoyed the alcohol too much.. Tara for sure, poor girl. Might have ruined her confident and memorable limo exit. Liked the duet song question when Chris said it would have to be something country, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. Don’t remember who that conversation was with. Interesting conversations and it’s almost time for the first impression rose so the tension is building.

(Drumroll please) The first impression rose goes to… BRITT!!! I knew it, I just got chills that I saw that connection when they first laid eyes on each other AND then they shared their first kiss (on the first night mind you). Yep, she’ll be around for a long time and I am so giddy about it! No lie, I didn’t skip ahead and as you read this blog is how I’m watching and typing. Love it!

My favorite four based on the first show are: Britt (obviously), Kelsey, Becca, and Carly. Hoping they get a rose.

First rose ceremony is happening now. Once it’s over, I’ll post who didn’t receive a rose. On a side note, do you ever wonder how they remember all of the names when they are handing out the roses? I certainly do, I’m terrible with names. Especially the first time I meet someone. I am assuming they have something to reference when it’s the first night but who knows. During the rose ceremony – Tara is beginning to feel sick it seems standing and waiting. Bless her heart, she had too much to drink and looks miserable. Oh man, she almost fell! I feel terrible for her, I really liked her when she exited the limo. Interesting, Chris just walked out without saying a word. Oh my. He left to talk about Tara. he was going to pick her but has picked up on her sloppy drunkenness. Let’s see how this plays out. He’s second guessing himself on the first night, this could be “the most dramatic season, yet.” Had to throw it in there for all my avid Bachelor buddies! He just called Tara’s name and the girls in the room were floored. Alright readers, leaving on the first night are (with tear filled eyes).. Nicole, Amanda, Kara, Kimberly. Glad my favorites survived the first night!!

Whoa, Kimberly just went back in after she was supposed to leave and asked to steal Chris for a second (all the while, they were in the middle of celebrating the end of the rose ceremony and making it to another week). Won’t see what happens with that until next week. Ahhh, the anticipation!

Well there you have it, my live blog thoughts as I watched the much-anticipated 3-hour premiere. If you’re watching then I’m assuming you’re the only ones who’d still be reading at this point but, I’d love to hear your opinions on the first night and who your favorites are. It’s going to be an exciting season and I’ll be back with more next week!

Reality Check

Tomorrow marks our vacation days officially over as we dive head first back into reality. Back into school, work, cheerleading practices, mounds of homework, quizzes and tests, deadlines, and everything else in between. It’s been a wonderful vacation and although I’m sad to see it end, I’m actually looking forward to our busy schedule again. Something about it for me, just fits. A lot of people say they don’t know how I do it. Maybe it’s because I’m a tad planner obsessed and it gives me the excuse to use it and keep it on my hip at all times? Not sure, but it is what it is.

In other news, I’m a much happier Dallas fan than I was an hour ago. No matter what anyone says about that one bad call, my boys pulled out a win when they desperately needed to. Should be an interesting game next week and I sure hope they show up ready to play better than they did in the first half against the Lions.

Hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend!

So Long, Myrtle..

..Until next time.

We left a partly sunny sixty-one degrees day for a forty-six and rainy evening. It never fails, we always run into rain every time we get home from vacation (or so it seems). Once we crossed the North Carolina line, this was our view.

Before heading home we spent the day at Tanger Outlets, love them! Each year before we head back home we enjoy a delicious meal at Hwy 55 (formerly known as Andy’s Burgers & Shakes), today was no different.

Although it’s nice to be home, I definitely miss the salty air. Counting down the days until we return. Now, time for some playoff football!

Broadway at the Beach

Yesterday we spent our entire day walking, playing, eating, and shopping. At Myrtle, one of my favorite places is Broadway at the Beach. There is so much to do! We kicked it off with an amazing lunch at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville. Talk about a ton of margarita choices! I had the Five ‘O Clock Somewhere margarita and it was delicious. I also had the Cheeseburger in Paradise with fries, it had american cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and their signature sauce. I definitely would order it again!

The big hurricane you see it one of the photos above was so cool, a tequila bottle came down from the center and filled up the blender underneath it. The speed of it sped up and shark fins, flip flops, and other items stuck out of it as it spun faster during ‘Hurricane Myrtle’. Fun for the kids, and adults!

After our bellies were full we ventured over to MagiQuest and picked up where mini left off last time. Pretty awesome place where you complete quests, adventures, dual dragons and other creatures. Since we had been before, we brought her wand and just had to add on playing time. She became a master magi and completed a ton of quests all within 90 minutes of playing time. Can’t wait until we go back!

Next stop was Ride Makerz. Last time we were here, her cousin got to build his own car and we told mini that the next time we came, she could. It’s a really cool place. You pick out the body style you want, choose to make it remote control or not, pick out rims and wheels, and other accessories. Then, you build it.

We shopped some more and then went back to our hotel for awhile so mini could drive her car around. I even got in some drive time. I learned I’m not very smooth with remote control cars. Ha! Before we knew it, it was time for dinner. We decided to go the Thorny’s which was super yummy and reasonably priced. Then we made our way back to Broadway at the Beach for some arcade fun.

So very thankful for the time we have had together and the gorgeous weather. Probably the warmest we’ve experienced during our NYE vacations. Looking forward to our morning breakfast at the hotel and then spending the day at Tanger Outlets!

Hope your day is great, friends!

Siesta Scripture Memory Team – Verse 1

I mentioned that I was joining SSMT through Living Proof Ministries. If you aren’t familiar, you choose 24 verses, 2 per month on the 1st and 15th to memorize. If you have a hard time finding one for your current season, there are suggested verses or you can choose one that someone else posted. Each verse I choose, I will share but won’t go into detail about SSMT like I did above each time, only for this post. If you’re interested in joining SSMT this year, follow this link: SSMT 2015

The first verse I chose is Proverbs 16:24, Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.

The meaning behind this verse to me is to simply, speak life. In everyday living it’s so easy to get caught up in the negative or what could go wrong. Instead, this verse to me says speak positive, speak life and not death to situations or circumstances.

I plan to tie each verse into my resolution with my journaling Bible. Here is today’s.

Eat, Swim, and Sleep

This has been such a relaxing and beautiful day!

We started our morning with a scrumptious breakfast at the hotel and then headed down to the ginormous pool area.

The pool area has a huge heated pool, 5 (that I remember) jacuzzis, 2 heated kiddie pools, 1 heated splash pool with fountains and other cool water spouts, and a heated long lazy river. All of this is just within the indoor pool area, not to begin to mention all of the outside water activities. Which we actually were able to enjoy today. It wasn’t sunny and 75 but it was definitely warm enough to enjoy the outdoor jacuzzi and heated pool. So we stayed splashing around for awhile before it had passed lunch time. We had planned to spend the entire day today at the hotel so we ate a late lunch in our room and took a much needed nap.

That was a nap that will go down as one of the best naps I’ve ever taken, so relaxing. After our nap we went down to the beach and watched the sunset.

This was before the sunset but you could already see the moon.

We ate a yummy meal for dinner in the room, Frozen personal pizzas. I had some sort of beachy concoction drink to compliment mine, delicious!

Once we finished, got dishes cleaned, and our bellies were settled, we made our way back to the indoor pool area. More water stunts with my girl, flipping and fluttering around, laid back in the lazy river and sinking down in the jacuzzis before heading back to our room. It’s been such an awesome day and I wouldn’t have wanted to spend it doing anything else.

Officially have said goodbye 2014, thanks for all the memories!

Hello 2015!

Good morning from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!

I hope each of you were able to ring in the new year in a safe and memorable way. I barely could keep my eyes open to see the ball drop, I was exhausted. I did see it though and my honey snuck a kiss in so we started it off traditionally correct, all while that sweet girl of mine hogged the bed.

As I sit on the balcony hearing the waves crash and seagulls chirp (I am assuming it’s the seagulls that I hear and not another winged friend), I am so thankful. I wish you all could be here and witness the sun rising over the ocean, it’s marvelous!

Hope you have a wonderful first day of 2015!
