AdvoCare

If you have watched basketball, football or Nascar, then more than likely you’ve seen an advertisement for AdvoCare. If you’ve seen any of my previous posts, there’s a chance you’ve heard me mention AdvoCare.

What is AdvoCare you ask? AdvoCare was founded in Plano, Texas in 1993. They provide nutritional, weigh-management, sports performance, and skin care products that are backed by the latest scientific knowledge and ingredients and created safe and effective. AdvoCare products help to improve lives through superior nutrition and wellness.

How I got started with AdvoCare
A friend of mine offered to share products with me to try and I was instantly hooked on AdvoCare’s Spark. Spark is a vitamin and amino acid supplement energy drink mix. I tried the grape, pink lemonade, and fruit punch flavors. You just mix one service with 8 ounces of water and drink. The amount of focus and energy I had was amazing. No more groggy feeling, I was ready to tackle the day. If I’m being completely honest, I wasn’t a fan of the meal replacement shakes, they just aren’t for me. However, Kasey loves them and has one daily. He really enjoys them and their many flavors. Like with all things, one product isn’t going to work for everyone but for me. I knew I would be ordering Spark and I wanted to share Spark with friends and family, so why not get a discount while doing so as well? That’s just what I did. Back in Oct. 2015 I signed up as a distributor so that now when I purchase products for myself or others, they are discounted.

I am still learning more and trying different AdvoCare products. I am currently in a 24-day challenge with the same friend who first shared AdvoCare with me. She has been an amazing accountability partner during the challenge so far and I will share with you more about the challenge once we’ve finished. There is such a wonderful support group and I’ve been able to reconnect with a few ladies that I went to high school with. I am hoping that not only out of a more healthier lifestyle, I will establish long lasting friendships as well.

I am going to add a tab at the top of my site along with my Young Living and Photography business information incase you want to read more about AdvoCare. I will link my site there as well and if you have any questions or would like to try a product on me, please just ask!

Have a day full of sunshine!

Monday Matters

So much of the time, once Monday rolls around we get in a slump and aren’t excited about the day. That’s not me today though! I have so much to look forward to. I confided in you about some of my struggles in my previous post but although I struggle, I have hope.

This Monday morning I am excited about the day. For the first time in awhile, we meal prepped last night and I am stoked to share the recipes with you. Also today, a friend of mine and I are beginning our Advocare challenge. Today marks day 1 of the cleanse phase. Then tonight, my second season of Run for God begins. We participated in the program a few years ago but haven’t stuck to running. During the program last time I completed my very first full 5K run. Usually, I had just walked them. I felt like I was on top of the world and to be honest, was probably in the best shape of my life then. I’m ready to get that me back! It’s coming.

Now, for the meal prep last night. I made a delicious one pan dish that included chicken, green beans, and red potatoes. I also made vinegar cucumbers and clean deviled eggs. Just look at how delicious all of this looks! I will be sharing the recipes in separate posts.

Make it a marvelous Monday!

Prayer, please.

Subscribers, this has been a last few trying weeks. Shew, it’s been challenging. I write to you all now just asking for prayer which is something I rarely do in regards to myself. You are probably wondering what’s going on, and to be honest, nothing really major. Just normal, every day things. For some reason though, I’ve been letting things get to me more than I should and I am trying to just let go and let God. Sometimes that doesn’t come easy for me.

For starters, my daughter who has been an honor roll student each report card is struggling this quarter in school. She isn’t the only one struggling, a lot of the class is, but I am that mom who wants her to be challenged but not struggle. It isn’t that she isn’t smart enough, she’s proved herself to be above where she should be based on age alone over and over. However, she’s just gotten into a slump where she doesn’t seem motivated this quarter and it’s the small things like following directions entirely on a problem, reading the questions thoroughly, being responsible and remembering to bring home books when you have something to study for, writing out problems instead of just the answer, you know, the stuff that should come easily. I am trying to remember though, fourth grade is tough. Kindergarten through third, their hands are held, they are babied to a sense, and then fourth grade, it’s time to prepare them for that ribbon to be cut. Once fifth grade comes around, there aren’t the study guides, there aren’t detailed instructions to take home a book. The student has a big responsibility that fourth grade teachers are trying to shape them for. My little girl, doesn’t quite know how to handle all of that responsibility yet and in a sense, doesn’t want to.

I am in no hurry for her to grow up but man, this is a tough school year. Next year she gets to try out for JV Cheerleading which she has been looking forward to since she started the Spirit Squad. She is well aware that if her grades don’t come up and remain good like they have all this time, JV Cheerleading won’t be an option. Just pray for us, y’all. It’s stressful on the teachers, on the students, and on the families at home.

Outside of this school quarter, my focus and determination to really get my life back on track in regards to health and fitness has been somewhat of a downward spiral. I am not sure if it’s just all the added stress and pressure, well yeah I am sure, that’s what it is. My mind has not been mentally focused where it should be and instead I’ve been letting the negative, stress, and anxiousness take over which has led to some unwanted weight gain that I once had lost. I will get there again. I have a friend who will be my Advocare challenge buddy, and another friend who will be training for a 5K run with me. I haven’t ran in years and I so miss the body, the feeling, and the confidence that I had when I did. I look forward to getting there again. Just pray for me. Pray for my sanity, patience, guidance, direction, focus, mentality, confidence, motivation, and peace.

I am thankful for you all, you’re an outlet of sorts. Someone who I can type all of my thoughts (the good, the bad, and the ugly) to. I would love some feedback though, I don’t hear from most of you and would really like to know I’m not the only one out there facing this struggles.

Let’s chat, soon! Xo.

Nailed it!

Day 3 of the Advocare ALL•IN 24 day challenge has been my best yet. I finished all 101.4 ounces of water (my daily goal is 98.5 ounces), stuck to my meal plan, got in a good 50 minutes worth of cardio along with some good strength training, and had all of my Advocare products and supplements. Major non scale victory for me!! Just what I needed to gain some confidence during this challenge. Go me!

Boy it feel good to get back in my gym!

ALL•IN

This year I said “Yes!” to Advocare in a way I hadn’t been willing to before. You see, I have a handful of friends who have shared their Advocare journey with me and what they experienced by a 24-day challenge but I still for some reason not fully convinced. Then a friend of mine shared Spark with me. I loved it, it gave me the boost that I had been needing for the long work hours, late night study sessions, and never-ending wonderful but tiring motherhood moments. With the schedule I keep, it’s easy to feel run down. Not with Spark, it’s a great and better for you than energy drink, pick-me-up. (If you haven’t tried Spark before and would like to, I’d love to send you a sample.. just let me know). I attended a Advocare event at her home and was able to try different flavors of Advocare products including shakes and snack bars. To be honest, I’m not a fan of the shakes. It’s the texture thing for me but Kasey however, he loves them. It’s all personal preference.

So what exactly did saying yes mean? It meant that I was going to be a part of the Nationwide Advocare ALL•IN 24 day challenge. This challenge was the perfect way to jump start 2016 and the pre-order bundle didn’t only come with free shipping but free meal prep containers, Advocare bracelet, and Advocare shaker bottle.. heck yes!

This gal loves herself some free stuff. The amount of people who are doing this challenge which began yesterday, January 11th is unbelievable. I wanted to share my day one with you and a point that also proved me to be human, my day two lesson.

Let me start with my day two lesson. After such a successful day one it was only fitting as a human that I would fall off the wagon persay as not a mistake but as a lesson. A lesson that would remind me, it’s okay to mess up. I’m not perfect and I can be more than one negative meal choice, as long as I let it be just that and not allow myself to spiral out of control. After all, that’s why I’m here doing this challenge, right? I need accountability, I need growth, I need to learn, I need to have a plan. So how exactly did I fall off tonight? It’s my grandmother’s 80th birthday. Just look at how beautiful this woman is.

We had dinner as a family in celebration at a Japanese restaurant. I had planned to only have grilled chicken and grilled vegetables with no sauces but guess what? I caved. Yep, my willpower wasn’t as strong today as it could’ve been but you know what? I am confident that my willpower on day 24 will be much stronger than it is here on day 2. So, I ate myself a very unhealthy Japanese dinner and leaving all the icky details, paid for it later. But, I’m still here with an opportunity to do better tomorrow. That’s exactly what I’ll do.

In the midst of this evening’s poor food choice, I have a wonderful day one to reflect on and grow from for day 3. I am going to share my food from day 1 with you now through pictures.

As you can see, I ate. I ate a lot. Sometimes I wasn’t even feeling hunger but I knew that my body needed fuel every 2-3 hours in order to be successful. My morning started with a grape Spark, my Fiber packet, and probiotic restore tablets. My body isn’t used to caffeine because I am not much of a soda drinker or coffee drinker on a regular and I could definitely tell I had taken the Spark. My body was on caffeine overload compared to normal. Before dinner I had my OmegaPlex gel caps which are ginormous. The first one went down just fine but the second one gave me some trouble. I didn’t attempt the cleansing tablet before bed. Some additional positives from my day one is that I drank right under 100 ounces of water, super huge accomplishment for me!

I also got in a short workout I found on Pinterest that seems super easy but it kicked this gal’s booty. I’ll post it below.

All in all, I look forward to what I gain from this challenge. My “why” for doing this challenge (other than the obvious reason of not liking my current reflection) is to gain a better understanding of eating clean, being on a nutrition/fitness plan, and celebrating successes off the scale. Yes, I weighed in when I began and I will weigh when I’m finished but I also took my measurements and some before photos. I am not sure if I’ll ever be brave enough to post them but they serve as a reminder of who I don’t want to slip back into.

If you are looking for a community of honest, supportive, and encouraging individuals on the same path to bettering themselves like you are, and want a jump start on your 2016, please let me know. I can get information for you if I don’t know it myself and we’d love for you to be a part of this journey with us.

Here’s to a better self!

Thankful

This is the time of year where we all seem to reflect on what we are most thankful for. I wanted to post my ‘top 10’ that I am most thankful for..

  1. Life – I am thankful for the ability to live and although I am not perfect, I am thankful for another day to try and be the best I can be.
  2. Love – I am thankful for God’s love, a love that is indescribable other than using the word unconditional. I am thankful that no matter how many times I fail, God still loves me and cares for me. He loves and cares for you, too!
  3. Family – I am so incredible thankful for my family. As a whole it can be dysfunctional at times but I love each and every member and know that at the end of each day no matter the circumstances, we all are there for each other.
  4. My daughter – I am so thankful that the Lord called me to be her mom. Parenthood isn’t always sunshine and roses but everyday with her is full of love and laughter. I am so proud and hope that the Lord blesses me with many more years as her mom.
  5. My boyfriend, Kasey – This man right here is the only man who can get on my absolute nerves yet I love him more and more each day. He has shown me such support in the most darkest times and going through life with him is nothing but special. He truly is one of my biggest fans and I cherish every minute of our love story!
  6. Freedom – I am so incredibly thankful for the freedoms that we have in America. So many of which we often take advantage of.
  7. Material things – I know I shouldn’t put much emphasis on material things but in this case, I am super thankful for our home, warmth, food, electricity, all the material things that allow us to live peacefully and without worry of going without.
  8. Friends – I don’t have many that I truly consider an honest friend but the few I do have, I cherish their friendship. I cherish their brutal honesty, and I cherish each moment spent with them.
  9. Experiences – I am thankful for both good and bad experiences. At just 30 years young I have been through so many different things that some people don’t experience in their lifetime. Each experience has shaped me into the person I am today.
  10. Passion & Purpose – I couldn’t be more thankful to feel so passionate about not one topic but many. To have a passion for something gives so much purpose. I am thankful for the callings and direction that God places on my heart to fulfill his purpose.

What are you most thankful for this Thanksgiving season?

A Day Well Spent!

This morning started off with a tumbling session for my mini and packing twelve shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.

We had a delicious lunch at a favorite spot of mine downtown and picked up my niece for a fun-filled evening. She celebrated her 11th birthday last night and we were unable to attend because mini had a mandatory practice. So we’re having a sleepover to celebrate.

Our afternoon began with The Peanuts Movie which I absolutely loved! My favorites are Sally and Snoopy, adorable! It was neat to see how they transformed animated characters from years ago using today’s animation and technology. Kept the original look while improving. After the movie we went to dinner at Hwy 55, if you love a good burger and haven’t been then you’re missing out. They are formerly known as “Andy’s” but in recent years changed their name. The food is still the same and the Andy’s Original is the way to go! Burger, fries, and a drink for a great price.

After dinner we came home and let my niece open her birthday gifts, blow out “11” candles, eat a delicious cupcake from Dewey’s, and make ice cream sundaes with colored cones. The girls are now creating lots of entertainment while playing Just Dance on the Wii.

All in all, a day well spent!

God is SO good!

So I have to share with you guys the blessings that the Lord placed on my family last week in the most unexpected ways. It all began when we were on our way to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. We were headed up Black Mountain and my dad’s radiator blew. To make a long story short we were stranded on the side of the highway for a good 4+ hours. My dad’s best friend drove a good 2+ hours to bring us his truck and him and my dad swapped out the radiator. They swapped out the trucks so that we were pulling the RV with his friend’s truck and then his friend was going to drive my dad’s truck back home. The blessing in disguise was that while we were sitting on the side of the highway, ambulances passed by and there was a huge wreck up ahead. If we hadn’t been stranded, that very well could have been us. Think what you want, but I believe that the radiator going out was God’s way of protecting us from the wreck up ahead.

If that isn’t enough to give you chills, check out what happened literally about 30 miles from the campground we were staying at. Only around 30 minutes to go, we took a turn and a tire on the RV blew (see picture below). Here we are on the side of the road, late at night, no one around. My dad calls around to different roadside assistance places and the quotes began at around $500-$700. Next couple calls got the total down to anywhere from $325-$445. My younger sister posted a status on Facebook requesting prayer considering this was our second time on the way to where we were going that we were stopped in our tracks and found ourselves on the side of the road. No lie, not even 5 minutes later a gentlemen pulls up checking on us. He said he lived right down from where we were pulled off at and that he has a spare for his RV. He was going to go pick it up and see if it fit my dad’s RV. Praise the Lord, it fit like a glove! We were back on our way and my dad got his tire fixed while we were there that week so we could get back the tire to the gentleman who helped us. Talk about a blessing, I will never forget how the Lord showed himself in those circumstances!

I’m a Distributor!

So many exciting things have occurred in just the last few months. One new journey I’ve committed to is being a distributor for Young Living Essential Oils. For awhile now I have been looking into essential oils and pinning things pertaining to them on Pinterest. I even was in conversation with a doTERRA representative but until recently, I was just interested and not involved.

I attended a class a few weeks ago and absolutely fell in love with the idea of using all natural oils to assist in everyday living. There is so much more to essential oils than I ever imagined and I have so much to learn. At this class I was introduced to the Young Living everyday oils, ways to use them, the benefits of essential oils and the impact it can have on my life, and heard testimonials from other users. The reason I chose Young Living over other essential oil products is because of their seed to seal guarantee. You see, Young Living has their very own farms in not only the United States but in France, Ecuador, and Oman as well. Their five step process is the very reason why I chose to get involved with this company and I am so excited about this journey. You can read more about their seed to seal process here: http://www.seedtoseal.com/en/seedtoseal

There are so many benefits to essential oils and I won’t take up this time to go through those, I’ll post more about Young Living in the future. I just wanted you to share in the excitement that my package finally arrived and my journey has officially started as a Young Living Essential Oils user. I’d love to hear your experience if you have used or currently use essential oils.

Happy diffusing, xo!
