Monday Matters

So much of the time, once Monday rolls around we get in a slump and aren’t excited about the day. That’s not me today though! I have so much to look forward to. I confided in you about some of my struggles in my previous post but although I struggle, I have hope.

This Monday morning I am excited about the day. For the first time in awhile, we meal prepped last night and I am stoked to share the recipes with you. Also today, a friend of mine and I are beginning our Advocare challenge. Today marks day 1 of the cleanse phase. Then tonight, my second season of Run for God begins. We participated in the program a few years ago but haven’t stuck to running. During the program last time I completed my very first full 5K run. Usually, I had just walked them. I felt like I was on top of the world and to be honest, was probably in the best shape of my life then. I’m ready to get that me back! It’s coming.

Now, for the meal prep last night. I made a delicious one pan dish that included chicken, green beans, and red potatoes. I also made vinegar cucumbers and clean deviled eggs. Just look at how delicious all of this looks! I will be sharing the recipes in separate posts.

Make it a marvelous Monday!

Setbacks, new journey, and May!

So I have a few confessions to make.. (1.) I did not complete the Monday through Friday 4-week workout that I started last month, (2.) I have only completed 3 days of my 30-day yoga challenge, (3.) I ordered a new journaling Bible because I wasn’t happy with my latest entry which included my first (and probably last) attempt using watercolors. What a downer way to start this post huh? Hey, I’m human.

It would be negative if I allowed those setbacks to keep me down. Instead, I choose to allow them to motivate me for a different journey style. One that I am almost positive I’ll be successful in, because I’m being held accountable. So, May has arrived and beginning tomorrow I will be a part of a group workout three days a week. The other two weekdays I’ll be going to my gym for some cardio. On top of this new commitment, I vow to eat the way I should because who wants to work their tail off only to destroy it with bad food choices, not me. That’s why I am where I am today, bad food choices. So, remember me tomorrow as I’m sure I’ll feel like death after my first session. If you want to say a little prayer for my strength then I’ll gladly accept it.

Onto my third confession, one that is quite embarrassing but hey, I want to be completely real with you. I have always been my worst critic which is a flaw but something that I am constantly working on. With that said, this definitely falls into the “working on it” piece. I attempted to use watercolors in my journaling Bible for the first time and like I said earlier, it might be the last. I was highly disappointed with my “creation” regarding the Creation. I honestly haven’t journaled again since. Yes, I do understand that the point of my Bible journaling isn’t to make perfect artwork but to connect with Scripture, I just really was disappointed in myself and took it harder than I should. What did I do? I ordered another ESV Single Column Journaling Bible. I should’ve just prayed over the situation and continued on my way but I didn’t. So now, I have two. I plan on giving one to my daughter and let her start Bible journaling as well. It’ll be something that I hope can deepen her relationship in Christ and give us yet something else to connect and do together. Hoping positivity can come out of my previous not so positive attitude.

Have you had any recent setbacks? We all are human and make mistakes. Best way to overcome them is to accept them and move on. If we dwell on them, they take residence and in turn will reek havoc on our lives. I allowed myself to be vulnerable to my recent setbacks so hopefully if you’re going through something similar, you know it’s okay. You aren’t alone and it happens to all of us. Get back up and find positivity!

Here’s to a new month and new opportunities, xo!

Wednesday Wisdom

Good morning friends and Happy National Walk at Lunch Day!!

Sore (in a good way) muscles means you’re doing something right in the world of fitness. Had to have an early morning mineral soak so that hopefully by lunchtime when I go to the gym, they feel a smidge better.

I wanted to share some quotes that I find motivating in the journey to a better self. Hope they motivate you as well and keep you grounded because we both know, the journey isn’t easy. If it was, everyone would do it – right?

“Faith is taking the first step, even when you can’t even see the whole staircase.” -MLK Jr.

“The struggle you’re in today is developing the strength you will need for tomorrow.” -Unknown

“You will never change your life until you change something you do daily.” -John C. Maxwell

“I’m not where I need to be but thank God I’m not where I used to be.” -Unknown

“Even if you can’t physically see the results in front of you, every single effort is changing your body from the inside. Don’t get discouraged!” -Unknown

I hope those handful of quotes stirred up something in you and motivates you to make at least one positive choice today. Just remember, we all got to where we are in our current situations over time, it’s going to take time and dedication to reverse that. I can do it, you can do it, WE can do it!

Have a positive day, y’all! Xo.
